The Ritz Carlton Residences was a fast-track project consisting of the demolition of select and structural elements of an existing three level parking garage. Also included in this project was excavation and shoring of an additional basement area below the existing three levels and removal of 6,300 tons of concrete, mostly done by crane. JPC invested over 20,000 man hours in this short period of time. The project had several factors that both complicated and challenged the project team.

• Complicated engineering and bracing required prior to removal of structural elements due to extreme ground pressures 35’ below street

• Very tight working conditions and laydown area located within the business and government district in the heart of Philadelphia

• Extremely short schedule

• Complicated safety challenges posed by short schedule and working conditions
